Â
This is a new easy recipe that I love if I'm out of bread and a fancy a quick snack.Â
Â
I always try and keep a few tins of chickpeas in the cupboard, and tahini, so I can quickly whip up some hummus for a quick healthy snack.Â
Â
The flatbreads are great as the perfect dipping tool.
Â
IngredientsÂ
Â
FlatbreadÂ
Â
300g Plain flourÂ
40g butterÂ
185ml milk (or soya)
1/2 tbspÂ
Â
HummusÂ
Â
1 tin of chickpeas drainedÂ
2 tablespoons of tahini pasteÂ
1 tsp cuminÂ
2 tbs of olive oliveÂ
1 clove of garlic chrushedÂ
small squeeze of lemon
little water to blend until smoothÂ
MethodÂ
Â
First let's get the bread ready, as it needs to rest for about 30 minutes.Â
Put the butter and the milk in a small saucepan, and heat gently until the butter is melted, then add that to a big bowl with the flour.Â
Gently mix together and knead into a ball, if it's a bit sticky then just add some more flour. Then form into a ball, and wrap in cling film and leave in a warm room for half an hour.
Â
Â
The hummus is so easy, add the chickpeas, along with all the other ingredients then blend until really smooth.
add some paprika on the top and its ready to serve.Â
Â
Back to the bread
Â
Split the dough into 6 small balls and put each ball on a floured surface, and roll each ball into a circle.Â
Â
Heat a heavy-based frying pan over a medium heat, with a tiny drizzle of olive oil.Â
Place each circle in the frying pan for about a minute each side, watching it so as not to burn, then leave aside ready to serve with the hummus.
